performances

Oakridge has always been all about the content, the meaning and the essence of things. We never have focused on outward things like performances that are unnecessary. We believe that whats important in each and every event is how the students did their part, shared their talents and learned from the activity. It has never been about how well they have practiced or how perfect their performance is.
When faced with the dilemma of being compared to other schools and their activities, I cannot help but look back at Oakridge, look at our principles and set whats best for the children. I believe in the importance of out of classroom activities in our students. Nevertheless, I do want to avoid unnecessary costs to parents and judgemental attitude towards activities and programs. Ive always wanted to value students for who they are and not what they can do on stage.
So, I go back to "Is it really necessary to have a big event when the importance is placed on student performance and learning?"
